[He honestly wants to snap back at the other. What business is it of his to know of such things. But he realises as soon as he thinks it that it's completely unreasonable to be that upset so he just rings his hands together in an attempt to get such a thought from his mind]
Well. In the end you always come back to it because you realise it is but sometimes. Sometimes there's that little nagging voice in the back of your head and you wonder just why it is you subject yourself to all of that.
[ Jack has always kept to the shadows when it came to such things, and especially with the Family still being a potential threat he kept a close eye on his old friends. ]
I might come back, but the people I have put in harm’s way aren't the same. They're either dead, or they want nothing to do with me. The Earth continues to spin without them, but like you said, I do I continue to subject myself to constant loss. Keeping Torchwood buried, and myself at a distance is the best I can do.
For an entire planet? You're right it did work out in the end. [ Jack walked over closer, and he looked his old friend over. ] And, I don't think depressing each other is going to help. [ Jack smiled and offered a flirtatious wink. ] And, I have to say; I'm impressed with this regeneration that I'm half tempted to ask you out on a date.
[ Jack stopped, and he placed his hand on his chin with his smile still there on his face. ] Okay, how about we find a nice pub and have a few drinks.
[Oh tea. He could really use tea right now so he gives a quiet thanks as he pulls it towards him. He gives it a sniff before taking a good drink of it.]
The losses. I bring people to brilliant places to hope to expand their minds but...
[He tightens his hands around the cup of tea and looks off.]
[Uh-oh. He sees the wheels are working and he steps away, there's a part of him that wants her to know and a small part of him that's not so sure about that. Given everything that's happened.]
