New job jitters are normal. Right?

Totally, man. Where ya headed?

Just started working at a newspaper. Biggest employer I've worked for and it's a little nerve-wracking.

Brand Name Journalism — Yeah, I can totally see that. You're kind of a huge — and I mean that in the nice way, bee tee dubs — bundle'a leaves there, buddy. [ she pushes her glasses up the bridge of her nose. ]

But hey, like you said. Totally normal.

Maybe, but it's one hell of paper. They really believe in truth and justice. [He blinks behind his own glasses.]

Bundle of what?

New environment, new people. Jitters are to be expected.

Ah, so you're that guy. [ she grins, shaking her head at his question. ]

Leaves. You know the saying 'shaking like a leaf'? You're kind of the bundle package right now, chief.

Which guy? [Because that's not exactly obvious.]

Oh. Well, not physically, but I sure do feel nervous about it. I want to do a good job.

Maybe. I've had my fair share of jobs, though. Never really dealt with them before this one.

Oh sure any type of jitters are normal.

Big, small, nearly nonexistent? Think I envy people who don't get them.

[Steve laughs.]

I would say first day jitters are small, but I know what you mean about the big ones. I used to have them all the time.

A bit of one, yeah. I'd like to stick with this one for more than a few months.

It feels like I've run the entire gamut lately. How'd you quash them?

What sort of work are you transitioning into?

[Steve pulls out a small notebook.]

Weird as it seems I draw for a bit when I'm heading places and it helps.

[His mouth lifts into a vaguely rueful smile.]

I'm not much of an artist, unfortunately. Mind if I ask what kind of things you draw?

Journalism. Took an entry level job for one of the best papers in the business. [Maybe even the best.]

Impressive. I'm assuming with the bouncing every few months perhaps you did freelance journalism?

No, my jobs didn't involve a lot of writing. Sorry to disappoint.

First crack at it, hm? Inspiration struck?

I look after the family business.

Portraits and still lives I've done some ad work as well.

[Steve opens the notebook to a portrait of Tony Stark and smiles.]

It's not really my best work that subject never sits still.

Did a little reporting in school. But, yeah. Inspiration struck pretty hard.

That's not a bad gig at all.

[He leans down to look at it.] I don't have much talent in the way of drawing myself, but I know when I see it. You're really good.

You take commissions by any chance?

[Steve snaps the book closed and smiles.]

Of course I do....what were you thinking....my name is Steve....Steve Rogers.
