*Seamus grinned when he heard the familiar voice and quickly made his way downstairs, his hair still wet from the shower he just hopped out of.*
Hey Red, glad you could make it!
*The little engineer chuckled as he made his way across the warehouse and paused for a moment to carefully move stacks of notes and spare parts from the couch.*
Been a little while, but I'm glad to say my work is...well it's about as complete as it'll ever be.
Nope, you are right on time! Just got out of the shower, and everything is all setup in the lab. I'd uh, I'd offer you something to eat or drink first but I don't think there is actually anything really edible round here and the tap water is questionable at best.
*Harper chuckled as he hopped back up and motioned for her to follow him back into his cluttered workshop. After pushing aside a few stacks of notebooks from his desk, the little man sat down in front of his multi-screen computer and started to pulled up a few files.*
Sorry it's been so long...you been doing okay Red?
*Harper paused for a moment as he seriously considered her question and finally nodded as he put the pieces of the last few weeks together.*
Yep, my uh...well the bar I bought brings food by twice a day and some guy named Big Mike drops off the cartoons and picks up most of the empties for me!
*The mention of going home brought on a frown as he ran his fingers through his hair again.*
Why would I leave? Promised I'd work on the cure for you...just didn't think it would take some much time.
*She was really torn because on one hand she was a hero. She wasn't supposed to let people just get eaten, even if they are bad people. However, at least big M wasn't killing indiscriminately anymore. That was a pretty big step for him.*
I... no, I'm not going to watch. I'll be outside throwing up.
*He sighs, but nods.* Okay. I'll try to be quick. Just, er, do your best to ignore the screaming.
*And he'll just be making himself lunch now. It's delicious, and twenty minutes later he lets her back in.* It's alright now, you can come back. I cleaned up and everything.
Just try not to look in the freezer, my leftovers are in it.
*He winces and looks away.* It's clean. No blood, no flesh; I ate and I drank and even the bones are dust and splinters. And I'm still so hungry, but I'm always hungry, so I saved some for later because I'd rather not kill again too soon.
I know that I'm completely bleeding crazy, you don't have to look at me like that. I'm trying so hard to be good, can't you see? *He squeezes her hand in an attempt at reassurance. There are traces of blood under the fingernails.*
*The little guy grinned as she hugged him, and hugged her back for a moment.*
Hey it's cool, was a space pirate for a while so I get the not trusting me thing!
*The mention of being too good cracked Seamus up and he couldn't help chuckling.*
Yeah that's me! Brains, brawn, and beauty in spades...just glad I wasn't any taller or people's heads would explode the instant they gazed upon my manly awesomeness!
*She pulls back and smiles.* You were a space pirate? You never told me that! Did you plunder other space ships and steal their women and grab their booty?
I can see. *She replied still looking a little green.* It's not that. I just... M, I'm pregnant. My stomach isn't as strong and sense of smell is on overdrive.
Wow...I figured I, or well the other me from before would have bragged bout that already! But yes I was a space pirate, plundered ships and stole all kinds off goodies for a few years...uh, not really a lot of chicks out there, but even if there was my captain was a lady pirate so I doubt she would have been cool with the booty thing!
*Seamus simply nodded as he stretched for a moment before returning his attention to the files being pulled up on his computer.*
Yep, did the whole pirate thing for a few years even tried smuggling and a few more profitable things. Not my best moments, but it was still fun for a while. Heck, started it all up again when I was in this crappy little solar system a three years ago, made a small fortune in loot but had to abandon most of it as the sun began to burn the planets.
*Harper smile as he found the notes he had been searching for, and turned back to her at last. He chuckled as he fished through his tool belt and brought out his small black scanner.*
Alrighty, just gotta take a small blood sample and run a few scans and we should be all set here!
*The hug genuinely surprised her but she hugs back.* Thank you.
*There is a moment when it's actually really sweet until her stomach turns and she pushes herself away and darts for the alley before hurling again. Thankfully, it's mostly dry heaving at this point.*
Oh dude, you smell like corpse. *That probably shouldn't make her laugh but it does, weirdly.*
