[ The Doctor gave Castiel a devilish grin, as he held his finger up into the air. ] I mean we don't look like a pair of trouble magnets. Mmm. Trouble magnets.
I'd blame the trouble magnetism on some of my friends. [ The Doctor lowered his hands, and the devilish grin faded. ] Of course, that could very well be our destiny.
I'm sure it wasn't from me, or maybe it was. [ The Doctor had taken the TARDIS out for a spin only to return to pay his friends on The Enterprise a visit. Of course, he landed the TARDIS inside of the garden and on someone's flowerbed.
He just stood there looking a bit worse for wear, and he clasped his hands together. ] It's nothing; I just managed to stop a very angry Rutan warrior who was trying to put a damper on Charlemagne's coronation ceremony.
And, then I went to something called a convention with my friends Artie and Clara. Oh! That was brilliant, and I even got to dress up as Yoda!
The first occasion that I recall, was from my Captain. [Spock greets the space traveler with a raised Vulcan salute and the faintest smile. He is glad to see the Doctor once more, though he would not say it so obviously.]
Your adventures still find you well. May this always be so. Though may I suggest that you convince your vessel to relocate somewhat to the left of Lieutenant Sulu's area of cultivation. He will be most displeased if his daisies are beyond repair.
Your Captain is very good fellow! He doesn't seem to mind me visiting this fine ship of his. [ The Doctor of course returned the famed Vulcan salute, and he was of course all smiles despite looking like he got in a fight with an alley cat.
He eventually lowered his hand back down to his side, and he whipped around to look down at the smashed daisies with a bewildered look on his face. ] I'll move her to the left, and I will find some new daisies for your friend. [ He said briskly, and he snapped his head back up into the air. ] Don't worry; I will be back before he finds out about his flowers!
[Castiel said a matter of factly as he stood across from the good Doctor. ]
My brothers and I had been raised to beloeve that it was the Devine will God for the apocalypse to reign down. Two brothers were destined to be the vessels of angels, betray each other and battle to bring upon. Though every single thing was piled again the Winchesters in the end they chose each other rather than the will of God.
[Cas frowns next. ]
It trouble magnet is a condition I believe I and my companions suffer from it.
I would have been agreeing with you at one point, but destiny and fate both made themselves known to me numerous times as of late. [ The Doctor thought back to Donna, Wilfred, the prophecy of Ood Sigma and his regeneration, and most recently Clara.
He was about to name them, but then Castiel spoke of his brothers, the Apocalypse and he clammed up rather quickly. ] From the sounds of that story you do seem to find your fair share of trouble. [ The Doctor knew these stories well, and he did have a belief in other realms beyond the one he knew. He went and clasped his hands together. ] And, I do indeed detect that you three have a severe case of magneticus troublous!
[As far as Spock could tell, Kirk seemed to be inordinately pleased each time the Doctor visited. Some combination of exchanging stories and a predisposition to friendly lifeforms was a strong common ground.]
May I join you? [His request to join the doctor is surprising, most of all to himself. Spock had previously rejected the notion of travel in the TARDIS; not out of a lack of curiosity, but rather because of the burden of responsibility he felt for the Enterprise. Yet, he calculates the risks of such a short trip to be minimal. He is fascinated by the Doctor's elegant vessel as well, and would be honored to experience her methods of travel, if only in a small way.]
[She says in the lowest of tones, grabbing him by the arm] Oh, are you sure? Because what you said to Lord Frey seemed pretty much looking for trouble to me.
[ The Doctor may have done something even more by giving Kirk a trip or two in the TARDIS. These trips likely revolved around being too friendly with the alien population in question.
The Doctor was just about to ramble on about daisies, and it was when Spock popped the question. ] Of course! It's just going to be a quick trip to nick some flowers, so we shouldn't be too long. [ The Doctor whipped around on his feet, and he turned around to grab hold of the TARDIS doors to push them open. ] And, I know of the perfect place too!
If you want to survive here, don't make any remark unless he asks for it. And if he does, endure stoically his mocking reaction. [She releases him once they are alone and curtseys] My name is Joy, and yours, Ser?
I have no doubt that you do. [Folding his hands behind his back, Spock follows the Doctor into the familiar blue box; then pausing only momentarily to first greet her with the same Vulcan salute, lightly pressed to her door. He has come to terms with the idea that the TARDIS has a mind of her own.]
And your 'friends'? Artie and Clara? Will they be joining us? [The last time he'd known the Doctor, the man traveled alone. Spock found himself approving the acquisition of new company for the lonely space dwelling man.]
[ The Doctor stopped just before the doorway, and he shook his head. ] Artie is back home as is Clara. [ The Doctor would have liked Clara to be a full time companion like Amy and Rory, but he respected that she still has other responsibilities.
He whipped back around, and he headed over towards the console where he started to wander around it flipping a variety of switches. ] I also need to find you a suitable hat to wear, but we will do that after we land. Mmm. [ The Doctor continued to buzz around the console. ] We are going pay the Jardin des Plantes a visit! They have the coolest display of daisies in the whole wide universe! And, I'm sure your friend would appreciate if we brought some back.
The cultural icon of a beret would seem insufficient for our purpose. [Spock is intrigued at the idea of traveling to France, one of Earth's countries that he has not yet had the pleasure of visiting. Something tells him that the doctor does not intend to return then to Spock's mother's home planet in 'real' time however.]
I believe that the lieutenant will appreciate the quality of the flowers.
[Coming to stand nearby the Doctor, Spock makes note of the seemingly erratic controls. If there is a pattern, he has yet to detect it.] This is operable by a single individual? Fascinating.
[ The Doctor really wondered what he had said that was so horrific that it nearly costed him a regeneration. In response to the curtsey, he lifted his hand up to his head to tip an imaginary hat. ] It is quite an honor. [ He bowed. ] I am Sir John Smith of TARDIS.
[ The Doctor was not going to visit anything resembling the 21st or 20th century, Spock is likely going to go back before the beret is even considered fashionable. ] Don't worry; I have a collection of hats inside of my wardrobe! So I'm sure you'll find something to your liking in the section marked late 19th century!
[ It wasn't long, and the time rotor began to rise and fall while The Doctor continued to wander along the console. He stopped to look at Spock, and he was not going to be the least bit honest with the Vulcan. ] Yes, she can be operated by only one pilot, and it takes the most skilled of Time Lords to pilot her! [ He lied some more. ]
[That will certainly add another 'fascinating' to the Doctor's tally.]
Do you believe that my uniform will be sufficient? [Far be it from Spock to question the professional time traveler, but the prime directive compels him to make every effort of caution. It is a piece of regulation that he and the Doctor perhaps do not always agree on, but it did take all kinds to run a universe.
Spock puts aside the question of clothing in favor of watching the TARDIS awaken and gain momentum; and then his turns his gaze down to meet the Doctor's. If the complexities of Human expressions still managed to escape him, it would be doubly so for that of a Time Lord. Especially this one. Yet; a small quirk of Spock's mouth indicates that he may not be so easily fooled as all that.]
Only the most skilled? I am impressed then, Doctor.
[ As the TARDIS hurtled herself through the vortex, The Doctor continued to wander around the console to make sure everything is working, as it should. He would stop every so often to make the needed adjustments to make sure they don't end up somewhere like The Pope's closet.
He stopped and stood still for just a second when Spock brought up his uniform, and he looked him over. ] Mmm. That's a good idea. It'll be awhile before we get there, but go and find something that won't draw any unwanted attention to you.
Something akin to what you are wearing, perhaps? [Cataloging the Doctor's jacket and vest, Spock is inclined to imitate these items, perhaps in gray. Though he will likely avoid adding a bowtie. As that seems to be a particular signature of his friend's, and would not wish to offend.
It is only with a vague recollection of his first tour of the TARDIS that Spock is able to locate the wardrobe collection at all. Seemingly anticipating his needs, there is a gray suit waiting for him. Complete with hat and gloves.
When Spock returns, he is time appropriately dressed.]
[ The Doctor was about to try to get Spock from selecting something to close to his own, but it was too late and he returned his attention back to the console.
It wouldn't be long before the TARDIS finished her trip through the Vortex, and when Spock returned, The Doctor was pleased to see Spock in something appropriate. He leaned himself back against the console, with his hand resting on one of the controls. ] I think it fits you, and we shouldn't have much trouble with trying to fit in. [ The Doctor looked behind him to make sure he didn't overshoot his intended destination. ]
There's just one small thing, try to be a little less... [ The Doctor tried to find a word that wasn't insulting to Spock's calm and collective demeanor. ] Oh, aaaah, try to not to take everything so serious!
[Hands folded behind his back, the effect is almost prim and proper in his costume. The only answer that the Doctor gets in response to that is the signature raised eyebrow.]
After you, Doctor. [To Spock, this is as close to a vacation as he would ever willingly take.]
What year have you chosen? [Still somewhat skeptical, the Vulcan is able to give his friend the benefit of the doubt in his claims, but this is Spock's first experience with time travel first hand. Of course, he is aware of it's possibility from his other universe counterpart.]
[ The Doctor quickly went and darted over towards the doors, only to stop and answer Spock's question. ] 1894. I could have popped over to London to visit a trio of my friends, and I'm sure I could have asked them for a pot of daisies.
[ He whipped back around, and he pushed the door open. Of course, the Jardin des Plantes was more than just a botanical garden. And, judging by the smell and sound the TARDIS landed somewhere with a large number of primates.
The Doctor of course tosses caution to the wind, and he popped outside of the TARDIS. She landed at the right time and destination, but her pilot messed up the landing. The Doctor stopped just outside of the doors, and grabbed onto the lapels of his purple coat to take in the plush man-made jungle. He continued to stand there, and he took a good look around. ] And, no I did not land us in the Brazilian rainforest! But look! [ The Doctor smiled in child-like glee at the sight of a troop of spider monkey's climbing in the trees. ] Monkies! Aren’t they just the most brilliant thing you have ever seen!
[By now, Spock has learned not to expect the easiest or most logical course of action from the Doctor. So it did not surprise him to find the other man dismissing the pot of daisies in favor of the... jungle?]
Interesting.
[Stepping out around the Doctor to make his own observations. The experience is not unlike an away mission in some respects, the thought makes his fingers itch for a tricorder to document their findings here.]
1894, you said? I assume that we are currently trespassing in defiance of custom and law in this particular location? [Not bothered by breaking the rules in a time period that is not his own, Spock is more concerned with the likelihood of the TARDIS being discovered before they accomplish their goal. Though, his concern appears to be for naught. The jungle coverage cleverly hides the Doctor's vessel quite adeptly.]
Shall we proceed with the theft as well? [Treating the other man to a rare, slight, smile. Spock indeed considers himself to be on a leave of some sort. Without the burden of being an example officer, he has done as the Doctor suggested and.. relaxed. To the degree he was capable of.]
[ The Doctor's attention span was almost impressive; of course, he could be downright scary when he put his mind to things. He cupped his hands together, and finally he returned to his train of thought on those daisies. ] Yes, and yes we are going to nick us a pot of daisies.
[ The Doctor started away from the TARDIS, and through the dense growth that's in front of them. ] But, that's okay, because I know your friend will like them!
[ There are plenty of daisies here, tropical daisies that are exceptionally big daisies, but the Time Lord is clearly on a mission. ] And, don't worry about trespassing, because I'm sure we're just visitors. [ Or trespassers. ]
