It feels oddly important to say with this small amount of space between them. He stays comfortably settled on his back, head rolling to the side to properly study Elliot's features.
"I would-- stand in the turrets and shout t' the whole world that I love you. I would kiss you-- in front of my dad. I'd marry you."
It's moderately hyperbolic, yes, but it's about the point underlying. They're starting from one of them being unable to articulate 'I love you' out loud.
"So... promise you'll tell me, okay? What-- works for you. What's-- too much or not enough. Please?"
