You know what would make it better? A beach. I need you and a beach so bad.

I will happily go to any beach you want. But if you're up for an adventure...I can take you somewhere special. It's only really accessible by foot, or by boat. But you'd like it.

If I'm up for an adventure? Of course I am. That's like asking me if I need to breathe.

There's a beach, a little inlet near where I grew up. It's sheer rock on three sides, but the waves are gentle coming in from the ocean.

I want you to see it.

Babe, you never have to convince me to go anywhere with you. I'm in. Always.

So when do we fly out, love? I can't wait to show you the places I loved as a boy.

[ He smiles and kisses Ashley's cheek, reaching for his hand to squeeze it gently. ] I'll call her later and get everything going. Right now...want to take the train up to the park, let the dogs run for a while?

Of course I am.

You want to take the train? The subway?

Why not? The dogs will be fine, and I don't necessarily envy finding a parking space. Not unless you want to drive the Bronco.

G, baby, there are ten dogs. Ten. Two of us. And it is the subway.

Is this you saying you're going to drive?

Of course I'll drive. Rather sit in hours worth of LA traffic then get on the subway with ten dogs.

You know they won't cause us any trouble.

Come on, then--I want to spend time with you.

It's not them I'm worried about, gorgeous.

As if you have to ask to spend time with me. My time is yours.

What are you worried about?

I know. [ He smiles, and leans in to kiss Ashley with a little hum. ] But I like hearing you say yes.

It's nothing. Just don't like the idea of being trapped in the subway with all the dogs and a ton of strangers.

[When he kisses him back Ash takes the kiss a little deeper.] We don't need to use public transportation, baby.

Ahh, so it's not the dogs, it's the strangers. [ He chuckles when Ashley gets deeper and winds his arms gently around his love's shoulders even as they squeezed closer, humming gently. ] You seem like you're more interested in bed than the park... Maybe we split the difference?

I know. I used to take the subway all the time when I first moved here. Or I walked.

It's the strangers around our dogs. Yes. [Maybe he's a protective papa bear when it comes to the animals. He laughs gently and shakes his head.] I'm interested in you. Kind of head over heels. But, we're going to the park. I'll behave.

I like to walk in the city or ride a board.

Help me round them up?

I don't actually know how to skateboard. I've watched you do it enough, but never tried.

You won't, but I like it. [ Ganymede clicks his teeth with a laugh at Ashley, calling for the dogs in the next room and those scattered about the house with a whistling call, scritching heads and rubbing his fingers over ears and tails as the animals all crowd around them. ] Collar time, everyone.

You're gonna learn. I'll grab my board.

[He laughs as he wanders off to grab his board, shoes and the water dish thing he bought for the dogs. A big bowl that connects to the bottom of a large water jug. When he comes back he starts helping with collars.]

Is there one for you?

[ That got a faintly amused look askance from Ganymede as he fastened a sturdy, heavily embroidered collar around Patch's neck, letting the dog shake his head to settle it down. ] You mean a collar?

Yes, there is. But not like these.

There is? [Ash paused and looked up at Ganymede, surprise clearly written on his face.]

Yes, I have a collar. I even wore one for...almost a decade.

But it's not cloth and ribbon like these. Mine's white gold.

Who did you wear it for?
